Since 2008, Bob has occasionally served as a mascot representing the most basic, stripped-back version of the LEGO minifigure. Perhaps most famously he was featured as an NPC in the MMOG LEGO Universe.

The combination of plain red torso, blue legs, and yellow head were featured in several minifigures throughout the 80s and 90s in town sets, thereby making Bob the perfect example of classic minifigure design.
