Serving as the successor theme to Classic Space, Futuron introduced updated versions of the iconic colour-coded astronauts. Produced in Yellow, Red, Blue, and Black, the Futuron minifigures featured new helmets with movable visors and more detailed torso prints, with long diagonal zippers alongside the iconic Classic Space logo.

Futuron was a short-lived theme compared to its predecessor, lasting only three years from 1987 - 1990.
