Despite beginning life as a generic Town minifigure, Max Timebuster soon became known among LEGO fans as a theme-jumping criminal through his appearances in commercials and catalogues.

His appearance and name are not dissimilar from those of Timmy, who was in fact initially named Max Timebuster in his appearances in the Timebuster comic, which later gave rise to the Time Cruisers theme itself. Confused yet? Welcome to 1990s LEGO.
